checkIT is a picture checklist app for kids. It is run by IW Enterprises Inc. ("we"). This page explains what we keep, why, and how to delete it.
The short version
- We keep only what the app needs to work.
- We never ask about your child: no name, age, school, address or photos.
- We never sell your information or show ads.
- You can delete everything at any time.
What we keep
- Your parent account: your email address and your password. Your password is stored scrambled, so nobody can read it, including us.
- Your lists: the routines and activities you set up, their items, pictures, days and times.
- Progress: which items are checked, when lists are finished, points, stars, your goal and goal picture.
- Email addresses you add for "list done" messages.
- Safety records: our website host keeps basic logs (like IP address and browser type) to keep the site safe.
What we never ask for
- Your child's name, birthday or age.
- Your child's school, address or photos.
- Health details or a diagnosis.
The picture library has items like "Take medication" or "Take blue puffer". You choose which ones to use. We never ask why, and we don't keep any diagnosis. Please don't upload a photo of your child as the goal picture.
How your child uses checkIT
Your child opens the app from a private link you give them. They don't need an account, email or password. The app saves today's checkmarks on their device so they don't lose their place. You control everything from your parent dashboard. If a link is shared by mistake, make a new one in Settings and the old one stops working.
How we use it
- To run the app and show the right list at the right time.
- To send "list done" emails to the addresses you choose.
- To keep accounts safe.
- To fix problems and make the app better during the beta.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't show ads. We only share it with services that run the app for us: our website host (WordPress.com, run by Automattic) and the email service that sends "list done" messages. We may also share it if the law requires us to.
Where it's stored
Your information is stored on our website host's servers. These may be outside Canada, for example in the United States, where local law applies.
Cookies
Parents get one login cookie so they stay logged in. The kid app saves today's checkmarks on the device. We don't use ad or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your information until you delete your account. Lists, points and history are kept so the Progress tab can show them.
Deleting everything
Go to the parent dashboard, tap the ⚙️ Settings cog, then Delete my family's account. This deletes your account, your lists, points, goal picture and history right away. Copies in our host's backups are removed on their normal schedule. You can also email us and we'll do it for you.
Your rights
You can ask to see, fix or delete your information at any time. Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) applies to us. If you live in the United States, we follow the children's privacy rules (COPPA): only a parent or guardian can make an account, and they agree to this policy when they sign up.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and email parents about big changes.
